Down Spike Kendama Trick
This trick is called Down Spike. It looks like this.

Now to do this trick you’re going to start off holding the kendama in the sara grip. If you don’t know that go watch our video on how to hold the kendama.

Let the tama hang down and just like we showed you in our video the Pull Spike, you’re going to use your knees to pull the tama up. Only this time you’re going to take your hand and push forward and you’ll notice that this will cause the tama to rotate.

You don’t want to do this too fast or too slow, but you can kind of practice just that. What you want to do is try to get to the point where when the tama is at its peak the hole is facing upward or maybe just slightly away from you. Then what you are going to do is you’re going to take the ken and you’re going to spike the tama.

And right as you spike you have to turn your hand inward and the tama up. This will keep the tama from falling off or anything like that. It’s a little tricky, but with a little bit of practice you can get that motion of spiking and turning up at the same time.

One tip that will help you out is that you don’t want to try and spike from way out here and try to slam in really hard because that’s going to make the trick more difficult than it has to be. What you want to do is, as your pulling up, try to keep the ken close to the tama so you’re not way out here but you’re close. That will make aiming a little easier. You pull it up, keep it nice and close it will go right in.

Once you’ve got that down you can also do this trick from the revolver grip, which we showed you in our video the Revolver. If you haven’t learned that go watch that video, get in your Revolver Grip. Everything is the same, you’ve just changed your grip. You pop it up and do the Down Spike. And that’s all there is to it.

That is Down Spike.
