Airplane Kendama TrickThis trick is called Airplane and it looks like this. Just like that.
What you’re doing with this trick, is your going to be holding the kendama in the tama grip. Make sure that the hole is pointing upward. And you’re going to let the ken swing down and you’re going to pull it up and land the spike in the hole of the tama just like that.
To do this, what you want to do is start, I like to start with the string on the ken up toward my self and the small cup is pointing toward my opposite hand. And I let it come down and as it’s swinging you give it a little bit of a twist as it swings out and you’ll that causes the big cup to turn so that it faces you. And when that happens, right as the big cup faces you, you want to use your wrist and knees to pull back and pop the ken into the air. That will turn the spike so that it is facing downward and then you want to catch it.
And this will allow you to catch it with the small cup facing you which is very important as it sets you up for other tricks later on. If you’re catching it where it is flat or the big cup is facing you that’s ok to start with, but it is not going to help you as you try to do some later tricks later on. You really want to make sure that you get it down where the small cup faces you at the end.
Again, you’re going to hold it just like this and give it that little rotation and just as that big cup faces you you’re going to pull and you’ll that it turns the spike downwards. To catch it the biggest tip is that you don’t want to try to aim really far away, but as it is coming up keep the tama really close to the spike, that helps with aiming.
When you put it all together you pop it up, catch it just like that, and that is Airplane.
