Pill Shredder and Splinter Kendama Trick
In this video I am going to teach you the trick Shredder and the cap side variation, Splinter, and it looks like this:

Now to do this trick, you are going to want to make sure that you know how to do pull spike and side spike, as those are essential elements to learn in this trick. To start, you are going to hold the base, let the cap hang down, and you are going to do a pull spike. We want to get the cap to turn sideways. To do that, when you do the pull spike you are going to move your hand inward. What you will find is that will turn the cap so that the hole faces outward, and the cap it horizontal. You are going to want to practice that a little bit. Get it so that you can lift it up to about the level of your hand and you have the cap perfectly horizontal with the hole facing out. Once you have got that, you are going to stick your arm underneath the cap and you are going to let the cap roll down your arm. To do that you are going to want to put a slight angle on your arm. If you do it too much, it makes the trick harder, so you just want a slight one. Let the cap roll and push your arm under at the same time. When it gets to the middle of your arm, around your elbow, you are just going to toss it up in the air, move your arm to the side, and do a side spike. You really want to make sure that when you do that, that you make sure to turn your hand upwards so the cap does not fall off. That is really all there is to the trick.

It takes some practice, but once you get it down, you can do it cap side, and that is called Splinter. It is the same thing except you are going to hold the cap. Your pull spike, practice pulling up and getting it so the spike faces out, and is completely flat. With this particular trick, it is even more important to make sure that it is completely flat otherwise the spike gets out of control and it is hard to aim. Once you have got that down, and it is at the level of your hand, same thing, you stick your arm underneath the base. Let the base roll down your arm. When it gets to the middle of your arm, pop it up, do a side spike. With this one you are going to land your side spike with a little more of a sharp and strong action turning upward. Otherwise the base will fall out. Once you have got that, put it all together, that is how you do Shredder and Splinter.
