Sweets Special Kendama TrickIn this video, we are going to be learning the trick known as Sweets’ Special. It looks like this:
Now, in order to do this trick, you are going to hold the handle in ken grip like so, with the big cup facing up. You are going to use your non dominant hand and stick out your index finger. You are going to swing the tama over your index finger and then over the spike like so. Once you are in this position, you are going to swing the tama onto the big cup. What this is going to do is create a nice little tension loop like so. You are going to bring your hand forward, so it actually tightens it. You will see that it lines up the hole of the tama. That way you can spike it nice and easily. You want to make sure that you keep your hands parallel. You do not want to move them too much off plane or else the tama will fall off. You will see that is does allow it to hang freely like this. The ball is not going to move. So what that is going to let you do is spin the whole thing together in a motion towards your body. So you are going to drop it and you are going to let it spin one time. On the second rotation, you are going to pull back a little bit more so that way it allows the tama to do an earth rotation. You are going to grab the ken and land it on the spike like so. Make sure you practice a lot, because it is a little bit more difficult of a trick, and there is a lot of cool variations you can do at the end. You can go into other tricks like lunar, like so. You can also land in a downspike, like that. And that is how you do Sweets’ Special.
