First, it is very stable during play, which will help during any trick that requires the yoyo to land on the strings in unusual or awkward configurations. Second, this stability means that the yoyo has a tendency to want to move in straight lines along its groove. This makes the Superstar particularly great for body tricks, where the yoyo string wraps around an arm, leg, or behind the back. “Why did it always come to this?” she thought. She never asked for this, it had no appeal. “They call me the superstar… what good is it?” Couldn’t she keep this joy for herself? She loved to yoyo. She always had. In her memory she could still feel that intuitive surge of excitement when she first laid eyes on an old wooden yoyo, hidden away in her daddy’s junk drawer. She had never seen a yoyo before, she had no reason to feel this way, but she knew immediately it was something special. Other girls talked this way about their first horse, or getting their ears pierced like their older sister, or even their first crush. Emotional. Inexplicably wonderful. Joy, untethered from this world. A sense, this was simply meant to be. She didn’t know why, couldn’t say how she knew, but she was certain all the same. She was meant to yoyo. While not all intuitive happiness is meant to last, her joy was confirmed with each new trick. Could anything else be so wonderful?
