The Lightning Wood Yoyo is as classic as yoyos come, but don’t let that fool you. This is still one of the best yoyos available to learn how to loop. While its wood axle will not allow for ultra-long sleepers like ball bearing yoyos (although it will sleep over 15 seconds with a good throw), the Lightning Yoyo’s hard maple design is not only attractive, it makes this yoyo virtually maintenance free. No lube, no cleaning. Just put on a string and it is ready for action. This is perfect for learning how to loop. As long as you have strings in tow, and strength left to throw, this wood yoyo will continue to execute consistant loops. More than one of the YoTricks crew learned to loop on a wood yoyo. The Lightning, with its great balance and a classing shape, has been built from the ground up with looping in mind. We recommend only using 100% Cotton Yoyo String with wood yoyos like the Lightning, as polyester tends to break quickly on wood yoyos. Remember, if you are right-handed, as you are looping the string will get looser, so be sure to periodically tighten the string with a UFO or a Sidewinder to keep the yoyo from sleeping at the end of your loop.
