The Throwback Chainmail Counterweight was designed by 5A Yoyo World Champion Jake Elliott (inventor of the Ultraweight) who was inspired by other intrepid yo-yoers who had made their own counterweights out of chainmail. Each counterweight is constructed by hand in the USA to be the perfect weight and shape for top tier 5A style yoyo play. The string is held in place with the same small bead as the Ultraweight, helping to reduce string tension. Contrary to expectations, it is soft and noiseless which makes it ideal for practice, especially for new players. Since the chainmail design is able to collapse upon impact, it doesn’t hurt when it hits your hand, so you can go on practicing for hours! And besides, it’s just awesome. Chainmail and yoyoing!
