The Legacy II meets the need for a great yoyo under $30 that can be used for advanced string tricks. It is designed to play and feel like the popular Dark Magic 2, but is made with an all-plastic body to keep the price down. Like other more expensive YoYoJam yoyos, the Legacy II comes with a thin bearing and a wide bearing; the thin bearing is for responsive play, and the wide bearing is for advanced play. In this way the Legacy II is great for those making the transition into unresponsive yoyoing. The question remains, is it as good as the Dark Magic II? Almost. The yoyos use the same bearing, the same axle system, they weigh nearly the same, and are practically identical in shape. Both yoyos sleep great and play wonderfully on the string. The major difference in feel comes from The Dark Magic 2’s metal rims which push most of the weight to the outside of the yoyo giving it its signature look and feel. The Legacy II yoyo lacks these metal rims, which means that the weight is more evenly distributed. Because of this it lacks that rock-solid stability which the Dark Magic II is known for. On the flip side, since it is all plastic, some yoyoers will find the transition to more advanced yoyoing eased by a sense of familiarity, as the way it feels and plays shares much in common with other conventional plastic yoyos. One final thought for those on the fence: The fact that it is all plastic does cut down on the “cool factor” compared to the Dark Magic II, if you care about such things.
