Pill Rollercoaster Kendama Trick
Learn how to do the Rollercoaster with The Pill.
Pill Rollercoaster Kendama TrickThis trick is called Rollercoaster, and it looks like this:
Just like that. Before you learn the trick, you want to make sure that you know how to do swing spike, because that is essential to ending the trick.
To start, you are going to hold the base. You want to hold it with the spike pointing out, away from you. It needs to be angled upward a little bit. If it is completely flat, the string will fall off, so you want to make sure that it is angled up a little. Then you are going to bring up your index finger. You are going to hold that completely horizontal. The first thing that we are going to do is take the cap and swing it over our opposite hand index finger and over the spike. So it is going to go over both of them. You want to make sure, it is very important that the string of the index finger is as close to your hand as possible, and the string that is going over the spike is as close to the rim as possible. Again, otherwise the string will fall off during the trick. So that is important.
The next step is, we are going to do one more swing with the cap, just over our index finger. So it goes over the index finger. It is important to make sure that we swing the cap so that it is in front of all of the strings. Once you have that, it is time for the first rotation. So what we are going to do is we are going to throw the base to the outside over our opposite hand. At the same time, we are going to swing the cap in the same direction, over the opposite hand. You are just going to do them at the same time. When you do that, at the end of it, you are going to catch the base just like this. You will find that you are actually in the same position that you started in. The point of that is just to give a little bit of flare to the trick. Also, to provide momentum so that now we have got some swinging motion going in this direction so we can continue that to unwind the cap from the tip of the index finger. Then continue swinging to unwind from the spike on the index finger. From here, again, we are going to continue the momentum so as the cap comes out, we are going to swing it out and we are going to pull back and do a pull spike. This trick, the biggest thing about it is getting all of the elements to go together and it is all about timing. We need to make sure that we have really good timing. You do not want to stop too much but you want to continue whatever momentum and timing that you have to get into the next part of the trick. Keeping the trick very fluid. It just takes a little bit of practice. Start slow, break it down, and then get it all together and continue that momentum. Once you have got it, that is how you do Rollercoaster.
