The YoYoFactory Kui yoyo is an absolute best in class light up yoyo designed to wow yourself and those around you. The Kui Yoyo sets itself apart from other light up yoyos by having a conventional unresponsive aluminium body, with two cleverly shaped plastic hubs that light up, as well as act as a finger spin cup. In the cup, the plastic cap is press fit into the body of the yoyo. The plastic caps feel very secure, and are quite thick so they are unlikely to break. They can actually be very easily removed by taking the yoyo apart and removing the axle and the bearing. With an included multitool, you can use the allen key to go through the threads inside the yoyo and push on the plastic cap from the inside, sliding it out of place. Below the cap you will find two small batteries that can be replaced if they ever run out. All of the electronics are press fit into place, so they do not rattle around at all. The small circuit board contains several blue LEDs that automatically light up whenever the yoyo is thrown. The blue LEDs are quite bright, and can be seen very clearly even in direct sunlight. The profile of the Kui yoyo is roughly H shaped with two comfy rims that go into an undercut located at the inner third of each half. The profile feels designed more for comfort than for the absolute best possible performance, which we think is a wise choice for a fun and performance based light up yoyo. The Kui Yoyo is a blast to play with. The two plastic caps actually extend a bit past the edges of the metal part of the yoyo, which means that you can usually see both halves lit up at the same time. This makes the Kui very easy to track into the air, and gives you a better idea of what your audience is seeing if you’re performing. The Kui isn’t a super high performance yoyo, so you might have some difficulty with your hardest horizontal combo, but it should keep up with all of your favorite tricks. In a stroke of pure genius, YoYoFactory also included a LED blacklight strip that is about 18 inches long. This strip had an adhesive backing, so it can be easily attached to a wall or 2×4 for each mounting. At the end of the strip is a standard USB A connector, so it can be easily powered via a USB powerbank. This means your white or neon colored strings can be made to glow in a dark area, which combined with the light up sides, make for a wonderfully unique experience. Whether you’re making a light show for yourself or for a crowd of people, the Kui is the light up yoyo for you.
