The Velocity has a great shape, a great feel, super long spin times, and plays awesome. And I haven’t even gotten to its best feature. What sets the Velocity apart from all other yoyos is what YoYoFactory has unfortunately named (in a moment of weakness, no doubt) the “Adjust-O-Matic” dial. These dials on the sides of the yoyo allow you to adjust the responsiveness of the yoyo. Dial it in tight for responsive play and easy returns, dial it out for unresponsive play for advanced tricks. (Check out this video if you are not sure what responsive and unresponsive yoyoing is.) The Velocity’s dial makes this yoyo uniquely suited for those players ready to move on to the new style unresponsive yoyo tricks, but aren’t quite ready to let go of classic responsive yoyo play. If you are an adult who yoyoed as a kid and are ready to get back into yoyoing this is a fantastic option. If you have just started learning string tricks but have not yet mastered the bind, but you still want to work on advanced String Tricks, this yoyo is for you. In this sense it is the perfect 2nd yoyo, helping you move from more basic tricks to more advanced tricks without forcing you to make the switch all at once. In this way the Velocity is not so much for the absolute beginner who has never yoyoed before (for that person we would recommend the Fast 201 instead). This yoyo is also not for someone looking for an all-around yoyo. Even though it can play responsive, it is not as good for looping and responsive play as yoyos dedicated to responsive yoyoing like the ONE. Instead, this is the yoyo for someone looking to push forward into advanced string tricks. For that person the Velocity cannot be beat in its price range. Not only does the response dial ease the transition into advanced play, as we have said it plays fantastic and sleeps longer than most any yoyo in its class. It you are ready to take your string tricks to the next level, but are not quite ready for a fully unresponsive yoyo, the Velocity is the yoyo for you.
